The Bonnie Mob
The bonnie mob are a family business based in Brighton, UK. They design and make colourful and fun clothing with a conscience, for babies and kids.
All of their organic cotton is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. This is the strictest global standard for organic materials and it certifies the path – from farming to finished product.
Their yarn suppliers carry the Oeko-Tex mark and the dye houses do not use toxic azo dyes (which are commonly used in the fashion industry). It is imperative to us that our materials have been tested for all the harmful substances we don’t want.
As an extra measure, their suppliers hold an OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certificate, to ensure their materials are healthy for nature, maker and user. These choices also lessen their contribution of synthetic fibres polluting our seas, which has a huge impact on our planet. The bulk production is always transported by sea, as ocean freight has much lower CO2 emissions than airfreight.
They have worked with many of their factories in China since 2004 and all of their factories ensure their employees receive a living wage and are treated fairly. The workplaces are clean and tidy, not cramped, with strict standards for workplace safety and a 40-hour working week. The bonnie mob are a member of SEDEX, a global non-profit membership organisation which manage their performance around labour rights, health & safety, the environment and business ethics.
